Legionella Monitoring & Controlling

If you’re a business owner, it’s up to you to control the risks in your workplace and become compliant with the latest health and safety legislation. You are required by law to carry out regular legionella risk assessments and note the hazards if you have more than five employees.

Legionella is a major risk for businesses whose workplace has one or more of the following:

What is Legionella

Legionella is a type of bacteria commonly found in natural water sources. However, it can also grow and multiply in human-made building water systems such as showerheads and sink faucets, hot water tanks and heaters, water-cooled air conditioning systems and baths that aren’t drained after use.

When this happens, it can become a health concern and cause illnesses like legionnaires’ disease which is a fatal form of pneumonia and pontiac fever.

The disease is contracted from simply breathing in small droplets of water in the air that contain the bacteria.

Business Owner’s Duty Against Legionella

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) can carry out inspections if there is evidence that the health and safety performance of your business is poor, or if they want to investigate a specific incident.

Commercial Legionella Monitoring & Controlling Services

Garrion Contracts offer a wide range of Legionella control services removing bacteria to help you ensure that your property remains healthy, safe, legal and compliant. Beware of companies who have started offering legionella supervision overnight.
